  • Ultimate Clinic: April 26th

In its simplest terms, ultimate frisbee is a game between two teams whose players try to toss a Frisbee to one another until they cross the opponent’s goal. In these terms, ultimate sounds like a child’s game, as if anyone could pick up a disc and be a great player. This isn’t necessarily the case, as ultimate is a game of skill, technique, and endurance.

Ultimate has been compared with other sports such as soccer and football. Just like in soccer, ultimate requires the ability to run for long periods of time on the offensive and defensive side of the disc. Ultimate is similar to football where you are attempting to throw the disc into the opponents end much like a touchdown. The truth of the matter is, although there are similarities to other sports, ultimate is very unique and does not get the recognition as a great sport as it deserves. There are numerous ways to throw a Frisbee including the regular backhand, the flick, and the hammer to name a few. These different ways to throw a disc are also combined with various angles to get around different defensive styles during a game. To be able to throw a disc in a variety of ways consistently requires an incredible amount of skill and technique. To be able to compete hard throughout the course of an entire game also requires a great amount of endurance.

If you are looking at playing a tremendously fun and challenging sport as well as getting some great exercise, ultimate frisbee is the sport for you! The skills are hard to master but with some practice, anyone who is willing to put forth some effort can become a good player. Not So Pro® is offering their annual ultimate clinic on April 26th which is a great tool for those who want to hone their skills or learn new ones. Also, Not So Pro® has their spring and summer sessions coming soon which offers ultimate leagues for both beginners and more advanced players. As an extra add on, those who sign up for the ultimate clinic or leagues will be given a free official disc!
