All our Not So Pro Beach Volleyball tournament feature division, which are defined by the skill level and intensity of the players. Registering for the proper division is extremely important. Being in the wrong division makes for a less enjoyable experience for all involved, as it generally results in a very uneven level of play. In particular, the Elite 4's and Advanced 6's division are extremely competitive, and all players have a very high level of ability. If you are uncertain of the division you should be playing in, PLEASE choose the lower level (ie. if you aren't sure whether you should play competitive or advanced, please choose advanced). In all tournaments, Not So Pro reserves the right to move teams to a division better suited to their level of play, regardless of whether the team has registered early. Co-ed 2's, King of the Beach, Queen of the Beach All players in our 2's tournament should have a very strong level of ability. 2's volleyball requires that both players have very strong fundamentals in all aspects of the game. These tournaments are for players that generally play in the Elite or Competitive divisions or have played at a varsity level in high school and/or Collegel/University. Elite 4's & Advanced 6's This is the highest level of play offered by NSP. A majority of players will have played at least high school varsity, and a number of players have played varsity at the College or University level. Players at this level have very strong fundamentals in all aspects of the game - serving, passing, setting, attacking and blocking. In addition, players at this level are much more adept at playing strategically and exploiting any weknesses in their opponents. Competitive and Advanced 4's For highly skilled volleyball players. Most players on the team have played a high level of volleyball and/or have a high level of volleyball skills (ie. played on their high school volleyball team). Players at this level have good fundamentals in most aspects of the game - serving, passing, setting, attacking and blocking. Intermediate 6's The intermediate level is geared towards participants who are still relatively new to the sport but are seeking a little bit more competition. Participants that play at this level have a reasonable knowledge of the rules and the game and are ready to become more competitive but are still not all that serious. Most participants at this level have played for a few seasons. For teams with some experience, most players on the team should be able to pass, bump and set with relative accuracy and should be prepared for hitting and blocking. Recreational 6's For new players or totally fun teams. This is the most basic level that NSP offers - sort of a "beginners" level. Most rallies will not see 3 hits each time as most players have not played volleyball in quite a long time (if at all). The object at this level is just to get the ball over the net, and the main focus is on having some fun! |
